Antonella Saldicco
Argentian-American film actress
Antonella Saldicco (United States, 1986) is an actress and writer based in Buenos Aires. She holds a BA in Dramatic Arts from the National University of the Arts (UNA), an MA in Creative Writing from UNTREF and completed the postgraduate Film Program at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. She trained as an actress with Federico León, Nora Moseinco and Maricel Álvarez, and further developed her practice through a Goethe-Institut scholarship in Berlin, where she participated in a workshop led by Akira Takayama at the Berliner Festspiele. She also studied narrative with Romina Paula, Cinthia Edul, Cecilia Pavón and Federico Falco. On screen, she has starred in La muerte no existe y el amor tampoco (2019, dir. Fernando Salem), earning the Silver Condor Award for Breakthrough Actress in 2021, Nuestros días más felices (2021, dir. Sol Berruezo Pichon-Rivière), which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, and Amor Livre Amor, an Argentina–Brazil co-production. Her film credits also include León (2022), El método Tangalanga (2022), El vecino alemán (2018) and a role in the U.S. feature Focus (2015), directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and starring Will Smith. In theatre, she has performed in Beatrix Cenci (2016, Teatro Colón), Los Nadadores (2018), Usted está aquí, and Las Ideas. As a writer, she is the author of the novel Cuál es el pez que tiñe el mar (2021, Concreto Editorial) and translated Passing by Nella Larsen into Spanish (2022, Editorial Marciana). She has received the Theatertreffen Forum Berlin scholarship and the National SAGAI grant, and curates the reading series Leer el tiempo at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair.
